Georgia Venture Partners – A Seed Capital Fund
Georgia Venture Partners (GVP) was established in 2004 to make seed and early-stage investments in life sciences enterprises related to Georgia. The Fund’s purpose is twofold: 1) to achieve superior investment returns, primarily in the form of capital gains, by building and investing in debt and equity securities of a portfolio of companies, and 2) to increase economic development of life sciences in Georgia by seed or early-stage investments in life science entities.

Life Sciences in Georgia
Because we believe Georgia technologies and entrepreneurs are worthy of investment, the Fund focuses on seed and early-stage life sciences companies located in Georgia, are moving to Georgia, or based are based upon Georgia technology. We have a wide-range of investment interests including small molecule-based pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, vaccines, tissue engineering/biomaterials, molecular diagnostics and agbiotech companies.

How are we different?
We’re different than other, larger venture funds in that we get actively involved – sometimes we will develop the business plan and help the founding scientist attract senior management.

The GVP partners bring valuable financial, business development and operational experience into the start-up process to help connect entrepreneurs in targeted technologies with the resources to build viable companies. In addition, we actively seek entrepreneurs and venture capital partners outside of the region who can participate in company management and make follow-on investments, respectively – with the intent to better link Georgia life science companies to the national industry.

We invest through Georgia Venture Partners (the GVP Seed Fund), the largest seed-stage, Georgia-focused life sciences fund in the state with the major academic universities as our Limited Partners, and an emphasis on “rolling up our sleeves” to help your company reach its potential.

Our partners are also advisors to the State of Georgia Bioscience Seed Fund, a separate source of capital for companies that have already attracted investors. By using the GVP fund and the potential matching of the State of Georgia Bioscience Seed Fund, we anticipate helping Georgia grow its entrepreneurial life science companies.
